MCC receives two grants to support Lenore Croudy Family Life Center

(FLINT, Mich, Aug. 21, 2023) — Mott Community College (MCC) has received two grants to help support services to at-risk students through the Lenore Croudy Family Life Center on the main campus in Flint.

The Stella & Frederick Loeb Charitable Trust, administered by Huntington Bank, awarded the College $6,500 that will be used to defray the expenses for food and supplies for the Mott Eats Food Pantry, open to all students regardless of income level.

The Quota International of Flint grant of $5,000 will also support the Mott Eats Food Pantry, providing food for all students regardless of income level.

“The Mott Eats Food Pantry eliminates barriers to completion that students with food insecurity experience,” said Carla Clark, executive director of the Lenore Croudy Family Life Center.

“With the recent rise in living expenses, especially food prices, these grants will help us provide for our students so they don’t have to choose between essentials, such as food and the costs of college,” Clark added.

The Lenore Croudy Family Life Center is a safe haven for MCC’s students and their families, providing students with challenges related to food, housing, childcare, transportation, healthcare and other personal barriers to academic success, access to support services available at the college and in the broader community.

The center is named in honor of longtime Board of Trustee Lenore Croudy, whose 29 years of service and leadership was an unwavering commitment to the college, its students and their families. She firmly believed that education is a powerful force for good.
