MCC President Honored With Award of Excellence

Dr. Beverly Walker-Griffea, president of Mott Community College, was recognized March 14 with the Award of Excellence by the Association of African Women in Flint at their celebration of International Women’s Day titled “Make It Happen.”

“I am honored to receive this award in connection with International Women’s Day,” said Walker-Griffea. “Celebrated around the world, it is an opportunity for us all to recognize the political, economic and social achievements of women and I am humbled to have been chosen as a representative of women in the Flint community.”

The Association of African Women in Flint is a volunteer organization focused on advocacy for women and community service. This marked their first year sponsoring an International Women’s Day event, featuring speakers, live entertainment and woman-owned businesses.

International Women’s Day was established in 1911 and is celebrated on March 8 worldwide. Organizations, governments, charities and educational institutions around the globe sponsor events to celebrate the achievements of women while calling for greater equality.

Mott Community College offers more than 100 academic and occupational programs focused on preparing students for a successful future through university transfer agreements, and high-demand two year degree programs or one year certification programs.
