Local nonprofit hosting Show Me the Money Day events-multiple free virtual financial education workshops 

Flint and Detroit, MI – Communities First, Inc., a local nonprofit, invites community members to participate in free Show Me the Money Day events. Hosted in partnership with CEDAM, Show Me the Money Day kicks off tax season and promotes access to free financial resources, affordable financial products and services  and financial education classes.

Financial education workshops will explore topics like getting ready for tax season, building wealth, estate planning and resources for small businesses. All sessions will be hosted live on the Communities First, Inc. Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/communitiesfirstinc) or YouTube page (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCFO_STbFD2SyzblyPDs5gXg). Participants are encouraged to submit their questions in real time using the chat features. Workshops will feature special insights from industry professionals including certified accountants, tax preparation specialists, attorneys and financial planners. 

Session details include:

  • Get Your Business in Order!-at 12:00 p.m. March 14, 2022 

With guest speakers including representatives from Huntington Bank, 100k Ideas, Michigan Women Forward and AC Brown, CPA. 

  • Think Long – Wealth Building Strategies, at 12 p.m. April 7

With guest speakers including representatives from Fifth Third Bank. 

  • Leaving a Legacy, at 12 p.m. April 21,

With guest speakers including representatives from K&C Consultants, PLLC – Carla Blakey and Kim McGary

 “We are happy that we can offer a safe, supportive discussion for Detroit and Flint residents to get their questions answered live.” said Glenn Wilson, president/CEO of Communities First, Inc. Wilson continued, “Everyone deserves access to financial tools, resources and experts that can positively impact their financial wellbeing and generate hope regarding their financial future.”

CFI is also partnering with local organizations hosting food giveaways in Flint and Detroit to distribute additional resources.

Starting February 17, a free financial resource guide was made available on the CFI website (www.communitiesfirstinc.org).
