Local Flint pastor elevated to bishop in the Church of God in Christ

On Monday December 20th, 2021 Local Pastor and Community Activist Chris Martin was elevated to the Office of Bishop in the Church of God in Christ. The Church of God in Christ is the largest Pentecostal Church in the world with over 6.5 million members. The Presiding Bishop, Bishop J. Drew SHEARD officially recommended Pastor Martin to the Office and it was approved by the General Assembly of the Church of God in Christ.

Martin attended Flint Schools graduating from Flint Southwestern Academy, and is a graduate from the University of Michigan. In 1997, Martin was Elected to the Flint Board of Education as the youngest African American ever elected to the board, and served as board president for two years.

At 7 p.m. on Tuesday December 21, community members, members of Cathedral of Faith Church and others will gathered at Cathedral of Faith Church, located at 6031 DuPont St. to witness the Watch Party celebration of Consecration for the Elevation of now Bishop Christopher E. Martin Sr.
