Lawsuit filed against City of Flint dismissed

Statement from Flint City Attorney William Kim issued the following statement in response to the Circuit Court’s recent dismissal of the lawsuit filed by the Lento Law Group:
We are glad that the Circuit Court dismissed with prejudice the March lawsuit filed against the City of Flint by the Lento Law Group. However, we are also disappointed that they were not sanctioned for filing this frivolous case. This is the fourth lawsuit brought by the Lento Law Group’s mostly out-of-state lawyers that a judge has dismissed with prejudice and we look forward to the dismissal of the remaining cases. We will continue to seek court-ordered sanctions to recover the City’s legal expenses incurred in defending against these frivolous claims.

We are also waiting for a decision from the Circuit Court regarding another frivolous lawsuit filed by the 6th Ward councilmember over her suspension by her colleagues on the City Council. This is the second lawsuit filed against the City by this council member, after her first was dismissed with prejudice last year. It is unfortunate that the City has been forced to spend taxpayer resources on defending against meritless lawsuits such as these.
