FLINT—Congressman Dan Kildee (MI-08) recently announced new federal funding to help ensure all mid-Michigan families have access to high-quality, affordable health care.

The $4,975,362 in federal grants, awarded through the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, will allow Great Lakes Bay Health Centers and Hamilton Community Health Network to continue delivering comprehensive health care services to mid-Michigan families.

The following community health centers will receive funding:

  • Great Lakes Bay Health Centers will receive $2,984,004.
  • Hamilton Community Health Network will receive $1,991,358.

“Every Michigander deserves access to high-quality, affordable health care,” stated Kildee. “I’m proud to announce these federal grants that will help our local health centers deliver exceptional care to all mid-Michigan families. In Congress, I will continue fighting to lower health care costs for working families and bring federal resources home to the organizations they rely on.”

“As a Federally Qualified Health Center, Great Lakes Bay Health Centers is thrilled to be able to continue to provide excellent health care to uninsured, underinsured, and underserved people in the Great Lakes Bay Region and beyond with this grant continuation,” said Jeff Larsen, chief Growth and Development officer, Great Lakes Bay Health Centers.

Larsen added: “We are grateful for Congressman Kildee’s partnership in fighting to provide FQHCs with the funding they need to serve their communities.”

“This funding will have a profound impact on Hamilton’s ability to provide accessible health care services to the residents we serve regardless of their ability to pay,” said Clarence R. Pierce, CEO, Hamilton Community Health Network.

Pierce added “Ensuring all residents have access to quality, affordable healthcare services is critical to the health and well-being of our community. We are thankful for Congressman Kildee’s unwavering commitment and support to Community Health Centers, especially those in medically underserved areas.”

Kildee has long been a champion for community health centers. In February 2023, Kildee secured over $11 million in federal funding for Great Lakes Bay Health Centers and Hamilton Community Health Network to support their work to ensure every Michigander has access to the health care services they need.
