It’s Time To “Bag It” In The City Of Flint

Wednesday, October 8, 2014 – Keep Genesee County Beautiful (KGCB) in partnership with the City of Flint is coordinating the BAG IT Program. The program is working to inform residents they are no longer allowed to rake leaves into the street, but are required to bag their leaves for curbside collection.

Leaf-filled yard waste bags will be collected curbside on regular trash pick-up days now through November 30, 2014. Do Not Rake Leaves Into The Street. Citations will be given to residents not adhering to the BAG IT requirement.

The City of Flint will collect leaves that naturally fall into the street from non-residential trees located between the curb and sidewalk (the public right-of-way). This cleanup should not be mistaken as an option to replace the BAG IT requirement.

Community groups, churches, block clubs, neighborhood associations or other groups interested in helping to spread the word can schedule an informational presentation at their next meeting by calling 810-767-9696. Posters, flyers and other promotional materials are also available for distribution and can be requested by contacting KGCB.

The BAG IT Program will continue through November 30, 2014. For more information, residents can visit the KGCB website at www.kgcb.net or call 810.767.9696.

Since 2004, Keep Genesee County Beautiful has worked to encourage, educate and engage the community in the ongoing clean up and beautification of Genesee County. At its inception, KGCB became the first Michigan affiliate of Keep America Beautiful and has received the national President’s Circle Award for ten consecutive years.
