Would you like to learn to play an instrument like the piano, guitar, or ukulele but you just cannot seem to find the time? Are you intimidated by the idea of taking private lessons, but you still want to learn to play? If this sounds like you, you may want to check out the classes being offered by Craig Coffman at Mott Community College.
Coffman teaches what he calls “Instant Music Classes.” These are crash courses for absolute beginners on the piano, guitar or ukulele. Each class is a one-time seminar designed for an absolute beginner and will get you started playing your instrument right away at a simple level. Getting started is half the battle, and that is what these courses are designed to do – so you can get started.
Each class is partly hands-on instruction and partly lecture/demonstration. Students take the class online using Zoom and then continue their learning on their own using Coffman’s online book and online recorded follow-up lessons. The classes are designed primarily for busy adults, but students as young as 13 are welcome to attend.
Coffman has taught his Instant Music Classes for over 33 years at colleges and community education programs all over the USA. Over 33,000 students have attended, and they say they are glad they did. He promises that students who attend an Instant Music class will leave the class being able to play simple songs right away at a simple level on their chosen instrument.
Students love taking the class online as they get to sit at home using their own instrument as they take the class. And because of the use of the mute setting, no one gets put on the spot. Participants do not have to play in front of other students.
The class includes a recording of the class along with an online book and online follow up lessons. An optional monthly question and answer session is also available at no added charge.
