Genesee Intermediate School District to Host Ribbon Cutting Ceremony

Showcasing Enhanced Learning Spaces for Early Childhood

FLINT – The Genesee Intermediate School District (GISD), in partnership with the Charles Stewart Mott Foundation and Flint Community Schools, are inviting the community to attend the Summerfield Early Childhood Ribbon Cutting Ceremony. This event celebrates major structural upgrades designed to create a safe, welcoming, and inspiring learning environment for Early Head Start and Head Start Preschool students and their families.

WHAT:            Summerfield Early Childhood Ribbon Cutting Ceremony

WHEN:            Tuesday, July 22, 2025 | 10:00 a.m.

WHERE:         Summerfield Early Childhood Education Center – Gymnasium

1360 Milbourne Avenue, Flint, MI 48504

Improvements include a reconfigured main entrance, a repaired parking lot, new windows, a roof and a boiler systemall designed to support student safety, comfort and accessibility. Following the ceremony, guests will have the opportunity to tour the newly upgraded spaces.

“When we invest in our youngest learners, we invest in the future of our community,” stated Dr. Jodi Ramos, early childhood director. “We are thankful to our partners for sharing this vision.”

This project reflects the continued investment in the City of Flint and its youngest learners. Through strong partnerships, GISD states they “remain committed to early childhood education and creating high-quality learning spaces that foster growth and family engagement.:
