GENESEE COUNTY SOLID WASTE MANAGEMENT PLAN AMENDMENT 90-DAY COMMENT PERIOD

The 90-day public comment period for the Genesee County Solid Waste Management Plan (SWMP)
Amendment will be held from March 1, 2023, through May 30, 2023. During this time, copies of the
Genesee County Solid Waste Plan Amendment will be made available for review at the following locations:
• Genesee County Metropolitan Planning Commission, Room 111, 1101 Beach Street, Flint,
Michigan 48502. Hours 8:00AM to 5:00PM Monday through Friday

The Genesee County Solid Waste Management Plan is required by the Michigan Department of
Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy (EGLE) to ensure that the county can properly dispose of waste for
the next ten years. More specifically, the SWMP describes materials management data, public input,
deficiencies, goals and objectives to enhance materials management practices, solid waste facilities, as
well as implementation strategies to improve Genesee County’s solid waste system.

The public may send comments by email to: croblyer@geneseecountymi.gov, fax (810) 257-3185, or deliver to the Genesee County Metropolitan Planning Commission, 1101 Beach Street, Room 111, Flint, Michigan 48502 until 5PM on May 30, 2023. Please address all comments to the attention of Cody Roblyer, Lead Planner.

A public hearing will be held on April 5, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. in the Genesee County Administration Building,
Room 222, 1101 Beach Street, Flint. This meeting is an opportunity for the public to provide input in
person on the Draft Genesee County Solid Waste Management Plan Amendment.
Three open houses will also be held to gather public input on the plan. These open houses are scheduled
for:
Tuesday, April 18, 2023, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Flint Farmers’ Market, 300 East 1st Street,
Flint, MI 48502
Wednesday, April 19, 2023, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the Loose Senior Center, 707 North Bridge
Street, Linden, MI 48451
Thursday, April 20, 2023, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Montrose Township Hall, 11444 Seymour
Road, Montrose, MI 48457

Genesee County will furnish reasonable auxiliary aids to disabled or non-English speaking residents upon
48 hours’ notice. Those requesting such services should contact Cody Roblyer, Lead Planner, by phone
(810) 257-3010 (Hearing Impaired dial 711 for the Michigan Relay Center), or at Genesee County
Metropolitan Planning Commission, 1101 Beach Street, Room 111, Flint, Michigan 48502.
