For first time in a decade, City of Flint reaches agreements with all collective bargaining units

Flint, MI—For the first time in over a decade, the City of Flint has agreements with all six of its collective bargaining units, which includes a 50% increase for police and fire entry level positions.

This first in a decade body of city unions has been executed with the ratification of agreements by Flint Firefighters Union Local 352 and Flint Police Department Captains and Lieutenants this past month. This builds on a framework of working together with unions and residents to move the community forward.

“These agreements will enhance our efforts to recruit and retain police officers and firefighters to provide great service for Flint residents,” Flint Mayor Sheldon Neeley said. “As we redefine who we are as a municipality, I’m proud to support the hardworking men and women in our city, including police officers and firefighters who put their lives on the line for our community every day. This speaks to a community moving from crisis to recovery.”
