‘Flu Drive-Thru Vaccine’ event Dec. 11 to be hosted by GHP and community partners

To continue to help Genesee County residents stay healthy and maintain safety guidelines for social distancing, Genesee Health Plan (GHP) will host a second “Flu Drive-Thru Vaccine” event from 3-6 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 11 with support from community partners. Attendees can conveniently access GHP’s heated drive-thru service bays, roll down their window and roll up their sleeve to receive their flu shot. Children ages 4 and older may also receive a flu shot at drive-thru. Additional services at the event will include COVID-19 information and testing sites, and a Care Kit Giveaway provided by Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan. Additional vaccines available inside of the GHP office include: Flu vaccine (6 months and up), high-dose flu vaccine for seniors ages 65 and up, Pneumonia and T-DAP, provided by Genesee County Health Department. COVID -19 safety guidelines will be followed.

There is no out-of-pocket cost to attendees.

Recommended COVID-19 safety guidelines will be followed. Masks or face coverings are required for all attendees, and those receiving vaccines inside of the office including a temperature/COVID-19 screening.

Please note the event may be canceled due to inclement weather or COVID-19 restrictions. If canceled, notification will be on the GHP website (geneseehealthplan.org), on GHP social media and on the local news.

The Flu Drive-Thru Vaccine Event is in recognition of the National Influenza Vaccination Week, December 6-12, 2020, and is a call to all Americans 6 months and older to get their annual flu vaccine if they have not already. Since COVID-19 and flu could spread simultaneously this winter, this week will serve to remind people that there is still time to get a flu vaccine to protect against flu illness and serious flu complications, such as worsening of chronic conditions or pneumonia.
