30-year-old Malik Letroy Webb, the Flint man accused of shooting three people last Christmas Even in Oxford Township, will be using the insanity defense, according to his attorney.
Judge Victoria Valentine has ordered a criminal responsibility evaluation for Webb to help determine Webb’s mental competency at the time of the shooting, which left 71-year-old Clinical Psychologist Dr. Barbara Wolf, dead and two others injured.
Dr. Wolf is thought to have been stopping to assist Webb, who had driven his car into a ditch on Ray Road and North Oxford Road after hitting a tree on the evening of December 24, 2024. Wolf’s 38-year-old daughter was also allegedly shot by Webb.
A 56-year-old male and a 54-year-old female also slowed down to see if everything was OK. Webb allegedly climbed onto their truck’s driver’s side running board stating that he was lost, then pointed a gun at the driver, who was shot in the arm but was able to get away after getting Webb out his vehicle.
Additionally, Webb is thought to have placed a gun to the head of a 39-year-old woman the same day, in a failed carjacking.
Webb faces 20 charges, including a murder charge, which carries a mandatory sentence of life in prison with no chance of parole if he is found both competent and guilty. Additionally, Webb faces a super habitual offender enhancement.
Webb was released from prison last summer. He was serving for two gun crimes committed in Genesee County.
Court-ordered mental health treatment is also a possibility for Webb if he is found not guilty by reason of insanity.
