Flint, Michigan – On Wednesday, January 10, at 10:30 a.m., Dr. Mona Hanna-Attisha and Rx Kids partners will announce the open enrollment of the Rx Kids program at Hurley Medical Center. Flint musical icon Mama Sol will world premiere her new composition about the landmark program. The first-in-the-nation citywide program aims to prescribe health, hope, and opportunity for all city of Flint pregnant moms and newborns.

The press conference will be an opportunity for the attendees to celebrate the launch of the historic program, address the significance of Rx Kids, share insights into how the program works, and discuss its positive impact on the health and well-being of mothers and infants in the community.
About Rx Kids:
Rx Kids is the first program of its kind in the U.S. Rx Kids is the solution to uplifting babies and young children out of poverty and into better health. Powered by science and driven by the community, Rx Kids will “prescribe” cash to ALL expectant mothers in the City of Flint with $1,500 and all infants (0-1 year) $500/month. Eligibility includes City of Flint residents and births in 2024 or later. Rx Kids is led by nationally recognized child health researcher and advocate Mona Hanna-Attisha, MD, MPH, a pediatrician, and director of the Michigan State University-Hurley Children’s Hospital Pediatric Public Health Initiative and Associate Dean for Public Health in the Michigan State University College of Human Medicine.
