Flint City Council pass trash contract extension

The Flint City Council has voted to approve a contract extension with Priority Waste. This extension will last through June 2028 and will lock in current rates. Under this amendment, city residents will have access to current services and the contractor has promised to implement a new recycling program. Residents can also expect to receive new trash and recycling bins which will be paid for by a grant through state.

Council members Ladel Lewis (Ward 2), Quincy Murphy (Ward 3), Judy Priestly (Ward 4), Candice Mushatt (Ward 7) and Eva Worthing (Ward 9) all voted in favor of the contract extension. Councilman Dennis Pfeiffer (Ward 8) voted against the extension. Council members  Eric Mays (Ward 1) and Tonya Burns (Ward 6) were removed from the meeting prior to the vote and Jerri Winfrey-Carter left the meeting before the contract was voted on.
