The Flint City Clerk’s Office is glad to serve the Flint community through this COVID-19 pandemic to
ensure that the right to vote is able to be exercised. The following information is being made available to
keep the public informed of their voting rights.
Beginning Monday, September 14, the clerk’s office will be open and will remain open daily,
Monday through Friday from 8 a.m.-5 p.m., through the presidential general election cycle. In
addition, the office will be open Saturdays and Sundays from 9 a.m.-5 p.m., starting Saturday October 17 and through November 1 to allow voting by absentee ballot over the counter.
Registered voters have the right to apply for, receive and submit an absentee ballot in person at
the Flint City Clerk’s Office until 4 p.m. November 2; the day before the election.
Friday, October 30 at 5 p.m. is the deadline for the Flint City Clerk’s Office to receive by mail
absentee ballot requests from registered voters in the City of Flint for the election to be held on
November 3.
Voters have the right to register for an election and immediately obtain an absentee voter ballot
during the 14 days leading up to an election and on Election Day.
Voters who register to vote or update their address on Election Day may vote by absentee in the
Flint City Clerk’s Office.
The clerk’s office and the voting locations will open at 7 a.m. on Election Day.
Individuals entering a polling place for purposes of voting in an election are not required to wear a
face mask, per Gov. Gretchen Whitmer’s Executive Order 2020-153, issued on Friday, July 17.
