The Flint Branch NAACP is hosting a Blood Drive on Wednesday, May 1, 2024 from 12 – 5:45 pm, at Grace Emmanuel Baptist Church located at 3502 Lapeer Road.
Blood given to patients with rare blood types who rely on frequent transfusions due to conditions like sickle cell disease must be closely matched to avoid complications. Additionally African American donors are at least times times more likely to be a match for a patient with sickle cell disease than donors who are not Black or African American.
If you are able to donate blood that will be great; if you know someone who is willing to donate blood, please share this information with them. ALL donors will receive a $20 Amazon Gift card as a thank you for donating. Additionally, the Red Cross will include sickle cell screening for all donors identifying as African American, Black and multiracial.
All donors will receive snacks and juice provided by the American Red Cross after donating.
