First homicide of 2023 takes place in Flint on January 2

On Monday, January 2, the first homicide in Flint of 2023 took place.

According to police, Marquise Hall, a 31-year-old Flint man was shot outside a residence on the 3900 block of Blackington Avenue. The shooting happened just before 4 p.m. on Flint’s west side.

The victim was taken to the hospital and later died from his injuries.

Police chased a 30-year-old Flint male suspect throughout Mt. Morris and Flint Townships. Once caught, he was taken into custody and lodged in Genesee County Jail.

The shooting is still being investigated, and names had not been released as of press time.
