Easterseals MORC to ho-ho-host free sensory-friendly visit with Santa for children with autism

WHAT:       Children on the autism spectrum are often unable to visit Santa due to the chaotic, noisy environment and long lines. To ensure all children can visit with Santa this holiday season, Easterseals MORC is once again hosting a free, sensory-friendly event.

All children are invited to participate in the visit hosted at Easterseals MORC’s Flint Office, and virtually through Easterseals MORC’s Facebook page.  The event is specifically designed for children on the autism spectrum, as it will take place in a calm environment with dimmed lighting and reduced volume, and there will be a sign language interpreter for children who are nonverbal.

The evening will include visits with Santa, fun holiday crafts, a story read by Santa and sing-along songs. New this year, Easterseals MORC will hand out free giveaways, including its new book titled “What Is Disability.” Children participating online also will be invited to share their wish list and talk with Santa in the comments, and he will do his best to respond to all boys and girls.

All are invited to participate, and no registration is necessary.
