Coats for Kids Celebrates 28 Years!

The Salvation Army, WJRT ABC12 and WIOG 102.5 FM Radio, Holland Heating and Hurley Children’s Hospital are celebrating 28 years of Coats for Kids.

In these hard economic times there are thousands of children in our very own community that are without a warm winter coat. Help keep a child warm this winter by donating a gently used or new coat beginning October 6 through November 16.  Local area collection sites include , ABC 12, Genesee Valley Center, Courtland Center Mall, Troy Cleaners at all of their locations and The Salvation Army Business Office.  “Each donated coat is carefully sorted, cleaned and repaired, if needed and then inventoried to assure it will reach a Genesee County child in need,” stated Major Jon Augenstein, Genesee County Coordinator.

Coat vouchers will be distributed to families who register for help with toys, food and clothing during The Salvation Army Christmas assistance application week starting October 29 through October 31 from 9:00 am to 2:30 pm at The Salvation Army Flint Citadel Corps at 211 W. Kearsley Street and the Flint Beecher Corps at 1475 W. Coldwater Road.

Please visit www.salarmygenesee.org for a complete list of collection sites or contact The Salvation Army at 810-600-4497.

Be a hero in our community, and help ensure that all kids stay warm…please give the gift of warmth.
