On Saturday, December 23, the Greater Beecher Business Association in Partnership with the “GWOAT and Boxing Champion, Claressa Shields, along with other organizations presented a food, toys and winterwear giveaway for the community in Mt. Morris.
Claressa Shields talked to the Courier and said taking part in the annual giveaway was important to her because she never had gifts for Christmas as a child like the ones that were being given away. She said her most memorable reaction was when last year, a child she put a hat and gloves on said it was the nicest thing that was done for him all year.
“I was touched because he hadn’t even gotten inside to get any of the food or the toys,” said Shields.
Shields it was important for her that people know that “God loves everyone,” regardless of how much money they have.
This is the third year that the successful Christmas giveaway has taken place.
