Big Brothers Big Sisters of Flint and Genesee County to Host Annual Mentoring Inspiration Breakfast

In recognition of National Mentoring Month observed in January along with the national holiday celebrating the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Big Brothers Big Sisters of Flint and Genesee County will host its 13th Annual Mentoring Inspiration Breakfast on Monday, Jan. 21, 2019 at the Diplomat Specialty Pharmacy, 4100 S. Saginaw Street, Flint, MI 48507.  Registration is from 8 to 8:30 a.m. with the program beginning promptly at 8:30 a.m. The purpose of the annual Mentoring Inspiration Breakfast is to celebrate Dr. King’s legacy through the promotion of a commitment to mentorship and service in the community. Civil rights prosecutor Charles F. Coleman, Jr., will be the keynote speaker for this year’s event. Mr. Coleman is the epitome of leading by example. The self-proclaimed black superhero is regularly featured on CNN, MSNBC and other networks for his insights on law, race, politics and social and criminal justice. Coleman founded the CFC40 nonprofit organization while building his mentorship program for African American and Latino boys in Brooklyn, New York. Coleman said he saw a lack of support for programs across the country in urban communities. He said he then began searching for a solution to the problems they were facing.

Lawrence E. Moon, president of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home will serve as Master of Ceremony. National Mentoring Month culminates on Thursday, Jan. 31 with the day dedicated to recognizing and thanking mentors using the hashtag — #ThankYourMentorDay.
