Flint, MI — Join the Gloria Coles Flint Public Library for the Build Your Home Library Event on Thursday, May 9 at 5:30 p.m., at Holmes STEM Middle School Academy! There, children ages 0-18 will have the opportunity to select free books to enrich their home libraries. This exciting event, which is made possible by a grant from Ben F. Bryer Foundation, aims to foster a love of reading and enhance literacy skills among young readers in our community.
Every participating child will receive a reusable canvas bag and choose from popular titles, carefully curated to engage young minds and inspire a lifelong passion for reading. From classic children’s stories to contemporary young adult novels, there will be something for every age group and interest.
“We believe that every child deserves access to high quality books,” Executive Director Taliah Abdullah said. “This event is more than giving away books; it is about strengthening social and family connections, building a community of readers and empowering our youth to explore their curiosities through reading.”
