Flint, MI – Big Brothers Big Sisters of Flint & Genesee County (BBBS) is launching its Big Strides Running Club, a 6-week program designed to get BBBS matches learning and having fun together! Starting Wednesday, July 16th from 5:30-7:00 PM and continuing through August 20th on Wednesdays at Grand Blanc Commons Park.
This weekly activity is rain or shine.
This weekly club isn’t just about running, it;s about creating healthy habits together. Each week, participants will have a fun exercise or activity, plus engaging lessons on staying hydrated, eating well, picking the right shoes, and other tips for long-term wellness and running success.
Research shows that weekly exercise for young people can boost their physical and mental health, as well as their social skills. Statistics also reveal that physical activity drops as screen time increases, going from 70.4 % with 2 hours of screentime to 54.4% with 4 hours of screentime.
“The body achieves what the mind believes.” For youth, believing in their ability to be active and healthy is the
first step toward achieving it.
