(Flint, MI, 12/12/2025) – Big Brothers Big Sisters of Flint and Genesee County (BBBS) has announced the 20th Annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Mentoring Inspiration Breakfast will take place Monday, January 19, 2026, at St. Michaels Conference Center. Registration is from 8:30-9 a.m., with the program beginning promptly at 9 a.m.

Mr. James Avery, Genesee County Commissioner and CEO of Berston Field House will serve as Master of Ceremony, with Derrick Britton, U.S. Airforce Retired Lt. Colonel serving as the keynote speaker for this year’s breakfast.

The annual Mentoring Inspiration Breakfast is dedicated to inspiring a commitment to mentorship, promoting volunteerism and service throughout our community, by underscoring the transformative power of one-to-one mentorship.
The event itself began as a tribute to Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s commitment to service on the annual Day of Service. However, over the years, it has evolved into a cornerstone community event that now aligns with National Mentoring Month and its designated celebration days—“I’m a Mentor Day” on January 6 and “Thank Your Mentor Day” on January 29

.
Each year, the event brings together more than 100 supporters to honor Dr. King’s enduring legacy, unifying a diverse group of attendees, including Bigs, Littles, volunteers, community organizations, civic and political leaders, as well as other supporters—all committed to shaping a brighter future through positive relationships.
