Flint Police Chief Terence Green said the city had four different violent shooting incidents over the past weekend, which he announced at a press conference held on July 28. The shootings occurred early Sunday morning,  between the hours of approximately 3:50 a.m. to 5 a.m.

“We describe this incident as domestic in nature, which had three victims,” stated Green. “Victim number one was a 45-year-old female. She was pronounced deceased at the scene. Victim number two was a 34-year old female who’s listed in critical condition at this time and victim number three, a 56-year-old male, also listed critical condition.”

“Basically, this started over a verbal argument between two family members, cousins,” Green continued. “That’s the  victim offender relationship.”
According to Green, there were victims at this scene who also fired shots. He said police were looking for additional witnesses that would help “put things in perspective.”
Another incident also occurred Sunday morning, shortly after the first, at approximately 3:59 a.m., at Pasadena and Industrial. According to Green, police have had problems at this location before when there had been large gatherings.
He added: “We took some enforcement action approximately a year ago to stop them from operating, to stop these large gatherings, but the individuals continue to gather there in the wee hours of the morning. So this we believe is what caused this: We believe individuals decided to carry out grudges against one another
Police believe a 25-year-old man who died as a result of this incident was an intended target. Also, a 23-year-old male, a 21-year-old male and a 22-year-old female and a 30-year-old male were who were there were all listed in critical condition.

“So this incident…we believe is related to an ongoing feud between two groups. But that’s also still an ongoing investigation.”

“So when the shots were fired at Pasadena and Industrial, other bystanders fled. They fled north on Industrial
The fourth scene was heard approximately 5 a.m.at 2905 North Saginaw, at the Marathon Gas Station.
Green described the approximate hour time span in which the multiple incidents occurred as “chaotic” for the officers involved. He thanked them, along with the detectives, for their handling of the matter.

Green said he had “no doubt these cases will be solved” and added the detectives involved were some of the best in the state.

“This was just a heated moment and where things went you know haywire and the officers that responded were overwhelmed within a short very short period of time.”
Green stated if police continued continue to receive reports that business is being conducted outside of what the administrative judge has ruled at Pasadena and Industrial, police will seek to padlock the location permanently.
Green stated that the police department’s Special Investigative Unit had been tied up in city council chambers, but they would take a renewed interest in that location.
“We will be impounding vehicles. We will be initiating traffic stops. We’ll be clearing these locations out.”
Green also said that although there are more officers with the Flint Police Department than there were a few years ago, based on the number of victims there were over the weekend, gun violence has also increased in the city. He asked for anyone who has any information to think of it as if their family member were a victim.
