FLINT, Mich. – Mission Possible has opened applications for the 2026 Accelerated Savings and Asset Program (ASAP), a yearlong financial literacy and asset-building initiative for low-to-moderate-income Flint residents age 21 and older.
Through ASAP, participants complete six months of practical financial education while saving a total of $500. Participants who remain eligible and complete all program requirements receive a $3,000 restricted award toward an approved asset after additional asset education.
The program helps participants establish and maintain a consistent savings habit, develop and follow a household budget, improve credit management practices, reduce debt when appropriate and strengthen their relationships with mainstream financial institutions.
Sessions also introduce key asset-building topics, including homeownership, car buying, entrepreneurship, investing, emergency preparedness and financial protection.
“ASAP is designed to help residents move from learning about financial stability to actively building it,” said Gianna Oliver, program manager, Mission Possible. Oliver added: “Participants do not simply attend classes. They develop a savings habit, complete education tied to their personal goals and take a meaningful
step toward an asset that can improve their quality of life and support long-term economic mobility.”
New for 2026, participants may pursue emergency savings or life insurance as approved asset pathways.
These additions broaden the program’s approach to wealth building by helping households prepare for unexpected expenses and protect their families’ financial future.
Other potential pathways may include homeownership, reliable transportation, a small business and investments, subject to program rules and final approval.
ASAP begins with orientation on November 12, 2026. Six planned sessions will continue from November 2026 through August 2027, followed by ongoing asset education, documentation, readiness support and the approved use of funds.
Because the program isa yearlong commitment, selected participants must meet attendance,
monthly savings, coursework, communication and verification requirements.
Applications are open beginning October 1, 2026. Flint residents interested in applying should review the official application instructions and eligibility requirements published by Mission Possible.
