FLINT, Mich. — The City of Flint invites residents to attend the upcoming Teen Resource Fair on Wednesday, May 27, 2026, from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. at the McKinley Center, located at 249 Peer Ave., Flint, MI 48503.
Designed to help young people prepare for the next phase of life, the event will connect youth and families with essential services, educational resources, health information, financial tools and opportunities for personal growth and success.
Several agencies and community partners will be on-site providing free resources and services, including:
• Michigan Secretary of State issuing State IDs
• Genesee County Records issuing birth certificates
• Financial Plus Credit Union opening bank accounts
• Office of Public Health providing health and wellness resources
• Additional vendors offering education, employment, mentorship, and community support services
The event is open to all ages, with a special focus on teens and young adults preparing for adulthood, employment, higher education and independence.
“Young people deserve access to the tools and resources that help them build a successful future,” said Mayor Sheldon A. Neeley.
He added: “This resource fair is about empowering youth, removing barriers, and connecting families with opportunities that can positively impact their lives.”
The City is encouoraging students, parents, guardians and community members to attend and take advantage of the valuable resources available during this one-day event.
Documents Teens May Need for the Teen Resource Fair
For those attending the teen resource fair to get their birth certificate or a Michigan ID card, here are the main documents to bring:
To Get a Michigan ID Card
You will usually need:
1. Proof of Identity
Bring ONE item such as:
School ID
School transcript or report card
Birth certificate
Passport (if you have one)
2. Proof of Social Security Number
Bring ONE item such as:
Social Security card
Pay stub with your Social Security number
W-2 form
3. Proof You Live in Michigan
Bring TWO items showing your home address, such as:
School records with your address
Mail from a government agency
Insurance paperwork
Parent/guardian documents showing your address
4. Parent or Guardian
If you are under 18, a parent or guardian may need to:
Come with you
Show their ID
Sign paperwork for you
