A shooting was reported around 5 p.m. on Thursday, February 19, at Richert Manor Apartments at 902 E. Court St. When police arrived, they found a 36-year-old man in the community room with a gunshot wound.
The victim was rushed to a local hospital and was listed in critical condition Friday morning.
“…The elevator doors opened and blood was everywhere,” she said. “I got off the elevator and just walked to the day room to see what was going on. The girlfriend of the guy that had obviously been shot…was standing there. So, I walked into the dayroom and saw the man on the floor, and he looked dead. “
The resident noted the victim was taken out of the room. She said she did not hear sirens on the vehicle that took him out. She also stated she had been in the dayroom not long ago that day and expressed that she was not doing well at all after what she saw.
Police said the shooting was the result of an argument with another man who left the scene before they arrived and is also currently unidentified.
In addition, four individuals were injured in a separate drive-by shooting, which occured on at a residence in the 5400 block of Edwards Avenue, north of Pierson Road, on the north side of the city. That shooting occured around 9 p.m.
The victims of that shooting: a 22-year-old man, 23-year-old man, 25-year-old man and 33-year-old woman, were all listed in good condition at local hospitals Friday morning.
