The community is invited to the first annual Vehicle City Flintstone Basketball Classic
(Flint, Mich., 11/17/2025) — The community is invited to celebrate the Michigan State University Flintstones’ 25-year legacy as a new generation of Flint athletes hit the court on Saturday, Dec. 6, at Mott Community College’s Ballenger Fieldhouse. The Vehicle City Flintstone Basketball Classic is presented by the Mott Bears Men’s Basketball team.
“It is exciting that we were able to add basketball as a new addition to the Vehicle City Sports lineup on the 25th anniversary of the Michigan State University Flintstones National Championship win,” says Duncan Beagle, president of the Vehicle City Sports Commission.
Beagle added: “We have an amazing lineup with eight teams playing, including the 2025 state champions, East Lansing High School boys’ basketball team.”
The classic will host four games during the event. The lineup includes:
  • 1 p.m. – Flint Elite vs. International Academy of Flint
  • 3 p.m. – Center Line vs. Davison
  • 5 p.m. – East Lansing vs. Hamady
  • 7 p.m. – Saginaw United vs. Carman-Ainsworth
  • “It’s exciting to be able to bring these teams and their fans to our campus to participate in the Flintstone Classic,” says Mott Community College Head Coach Steve Schmidt.
  • Schmidt added: “Flint is known nationally for outstanding basketball prospects and teams (both in the past and present). I’ve experienced and enjoyed many of the successes of Flint basketball over the past 35 seasons. It’s an honor to be part of this event, and to welcome all of you to Mott Community College.”

Along with the Flinstones, other notable athletes came from the area, including McDonald’s All-American Kevin Torbert, whose son, KJ Torbert., will be playing with the East Lansing team against Hamady.
