CenterPoint Academy announces 10th Annual Greater Genesee County Pizza Throwdown

Celebrating a Decade of Community Support, Local Pizza Excellence, and Student Opportunities

(Burton, Mich.) — The community is being invited to celebrate faith, family and flavor as CenterPoint Christian Academy hosts the 10th Annual Greater Genesee County Pizza Throwdown on Thursday, November 13 from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. (doors open at 5:30 p.m.). The Academy is located at 1225 S. Center Rd., Burton, MI 48509.

The Pizza Throwdown highlights the generosity and talent of local pizzerias across Genesee County, each donating their best pies to help expand access to Christian education. Pizza enthusiasts will have the chance to sample pizzas and to cast votes in three competitive categories — Best Overall, Specialty and Kids’ Choice — with voting available in-person only.

The highly anticipated community event serves as the Academy’s largest fundraiser, supporting the Opportunity Scholarship Program, which provides tuition assistance to families demonstrating financial need and seeking a Christ-centered education for their children.

“This event has become a beloved tradition in our community,” said Principal Laurie States. “It’s a night where food, family and faith come together — and every slice supports the future of a student who deserves a chance to thrive.”

This year’s featured participants include returning favorites, with additional competitors to be announced soon: Guido’s of Davison (2024 Best Overall Winner), Captain’s Quarters (2023 & 2022 Best Overall Winner), Enzo’s, Aubree’s, Jacobsen’s Mountain Inn, Bongiorno’s, Mario’s, Bob’s Original Pizza and Hungry Howie’s.

In addition to the pizza tasting competition, attendees can enjoy a silent auction, bake sale, and shakes & floats sponsored by SOS Ice Cream from the Flint Farmers’ Market.

“All proceeds go directly toward student scholarships,” organizers emphasized. “Every dollar raised helps make a Christ-centered education more accessible to local families.”

CenterPoint Christian Academy exists to provide students with a heart-centered, Christ-focused and academically strong education. The Opportunity Scholarship Program helps ensure that families with financial need can pursue a Christian education built on faith, character and academic excellence.
