Genesee County Board of Commissioners Announces Open Seats for Road Commission and District Library Board

Genesee County, MI – The Genesee County Board of Commissioners has announced open seats for two local boards. The positions for consideration are as follows:

  • Genesee County Road Commission: (1) seat for partial term expiring 12-31-2027
  • Genesee District Library: (2) seats for terms expiring 8-31-2029

“These appointments are critical to the continued progress and development of Genesee County,” said Commissioner Shaun Shumaker, chairman of the Board’s Appointments Committee. “Our residents deserve to have the highest-caliber representatives in these positions to ensure their values and priorities are well represented.”

Interested individuals are encouraged to apply and share their qualifications. The Board will conduct a thorough review process to ensure that prospective appointees have the requisite skills to add value in their respective roles.

To be considered, an applicant must be a U.S. citizen, a registered voter and a resident of Genesee County for at least one year. Interested applicants will not be considered if they have been convicted of a crime involving deceit, fraud or dishonesty or are delinquent on fines, fees or taxes to Genesee County.

Moving forward, prospective candidates may apply up to one year in advance of the expiration date of the current term of a desired position.

The application window is open through October 15, 2025

  • What experience do you have that is related to the work of this board/commission?
  • How can you add value to this board/commission?
  • What factors in your life might limit your ability to serve?
  • What is your philosophy about diversity, equity, and inclusion?
  • Do you understand the Board of County Commissioners’ priorities and values?
