Flint Police officer pronounced dead

Officer Byron Norris Junior. Officer Norris was found dead in his home on September 4, 2024.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with Officer Norris’ family and loved ones during this difficult time,” said Flint Chief of Police Terence Green.

Officer Norris served in the United States Army before joining the City of Flint Police Department, where he continued his dedication to serving the public. Hired in September 2022, Officer Norris was assigned to the Patrol Operations Bureau and was a valued member of the Tactical Response Team. His outstanding commitment to his duties was recognized when he received the Officer of the Month award in February 2024 and an award from the 100 Club for his exceptional service to the community.

Green added: “As the Chief of Police, it is never easy to deliver news of the loss of an officer under my
command. Officer Norris’ service and dedication to this agency will be remembered always, and his legacy will live on in the hearts of those who had the privilege of working alongside him. During this challenging time, please keep Officer Norris’ family in your thoughts as they navigate through this tragic loss.”
