Commissioner Delrico Loyd announces funding for Flint’s Historic Berston Fieldhouse

Commissioner Delrico Loyd will announce a $1 million county allocation to the Friends of Berston expansion and renovation project at the Historic Berston Fieldhouse. Commissioner Loyd, on Friday February 16, 2024, at 10:00 AM, will join Friends of Berston at the Berston Fieldhouse.

Funding for this project was approved by the Board of County Commissioners at their meeting on February 14, 2024.

Special, one-time, funding from the federal government’s ARPA Program will be used to help move this multi-million- dollar project forward.

“I am excited to help turn this dream into a reality,” said Commissioner Loyd. “Commissioner BB Nolden, whose seat I now hold, had a vision that Berston would be a center for hope in our community. With this funding, we are now one step closer to making that vision a reality.”

Commissioner Loyd, Val Horton, Interim Executive Director, Alvern Lock, Chairman of the Friends of Berston, and a member of the community, will be on hand to give remarks and details of this special project.
