Recall language approved for 5th Ward councilwoman

Written By Jameca Patrick-Singleton

In the latest round of recall efforts against various city council members, language to recall Councilwoman Jerri Winfrey-Carter has been approved by the Genesee County Election Commission. The approved language stated that Winfrey-Carter, who serves as councilperson of the 5th Ward, abstained from voting on the city budget in June 8, 2023.

The petitioner in this request was Former Councilman Wantwaz Davis, who has attempted to successfully file recall language three times prior. In order for the recall to be placed on the ballot, Davis will need to collect 776 signatures from voters in the 5th Ward.
