(Flint, MI) Celebrate the Legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. at the Flint Institute of Arts (FIA) on Monday, January 16. With free admission all day, visitors can enjoy the FIA’s permanent collection including a newly installed gallery dedicated to artwork by African American and African Diaspora artists.
Visitors can also enjoy the newly opened exhibition, Expressions: Works on Paper by African American Artists in the Graphics Gallery. This exhibition presents a selection of works on paper by African American artists acquired by the FIA over the last decade.
The FIA Art School will also be hosting The Power of Printmaking: Relief Print Sampler from 4 – 5:30 p.m. This free workshop will help students understand the significance of printmaking as a distinct art medium. They will also gain an understanding of the role of printmaking as a vehicle to spread messages, playing a key role in social movements; and students will learn the basic steps to create a relief print at independent learning stations.
