The Greater Flint African American Sports Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony canceled; tradition expected to continue

To its supporters, the difficult decision to CANCEL the 37th Annual Greater Flint African American Sports Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony, which was scheduled to take place in March 2021, has been made.

As you are aware, we are facing a complicated global pandemic and to protect supporters, committee members and inductees it was decided it is best to cancel this year’s ceremony. Along with the cancellation of the ceremony, there will also be no inductions into the Greater Flint African American Sports Hall of Fame this year.

The goal is to preserve and celebrate the athletic accomplishments that African American coaches, players and teams have achieved in the Flint area. The induction ceremony gives the Flint community a chance to come together and celebrate the great GFAASHOF inductees of the past & present, and the tradition will hopefully continue for years to come.

Apologies were given for any disappointment this may cause, but it is felt this decision is necessary to help ensure the health and safety of supporters. For more information on the Greater Flint African American Sports Hall of Fame, visit the website, www.gfaashof.org, and please stop by and visit their kiosk at the Flint Public Library to find out more about the organization and past inductees.

A thank you was given to the Flint community for its continued support of The Greater Flint African American Sports Hall of Fame.
