53-YEAR-OLD FORMER FLINT MAN PLEADS GUILTY TO SEXUAL ASSAULTS AGAINST A MINOR

FLINT – Genesee County Prosecutor David Leyton said a former Flint resident pleaded guilty on April 2 to 31 counts of Criminal Sexual Conduct 1st degree for assaulting a minor relative between 2002 and 2003.

Leyton said Tyrone Anthony Jones, 53, of Scottsboro, Alabama, assaulted the victim dozens of times while she was living with Jones and his wife in the city of Flint.

The victim became pregnant by Jones and delivered the baby when she was only 13-years-old.

Subsequently, Jones moved to Alabama and the victim and her child moved to another state.

In September of 2022, the victim made a formal criminal complaint with the City of Flint Police Department alleging the assaults, and Jones was charged. There is no statute of limitations for Criminal Sexual Conduct 1st degree in Michigan.

“The wheels of justice may turn slowly but they never stop turning and today, justice
was served with the conviction of Tyrone Anthony Jones,” Leyton said after the plea was entered.

He added: “I want to credit the survivor of these appalling sexual assaults for showing tremendous
strength and courage for coming forward to make sure that Jones was held accountable for his unforgivable acts.

Sentencing is scheduled for May 6th
