FLINT – Genesee County Prosecutor David Leyton has charged a Flint man with 35 felony counts related to a string of thefts in Thetford Township last month.
Thetford Township is located in Geneese County, east of Clio and adjacent to Vienna Township. It has a rural atmosphere
According to Michigan State Police investigative reports submitted to Prosecutor Leyton’s office, Rovon Desean Sanders, 28, was arrested and taken into custody on August 29, 2025 related to multiple thefts of hundreds of items from at least one dozen different residences in Thetford Township during the month of August.
Sanders is alleged to have committed numerous breaking and enterings, home invasions and larcenies from motor vehicles.
“Rovon Desean Sanders has caused considerable distress for dozens of citizens in Thetford Township and unease for the entire community over the past month,” said Genesee County Prosecutor David Leyton. “But, I’m glad to report, his crime spree has come to an end.”
Prosecutor Leyton said Sanders thievery finally came to an end through old-fashioned detective work, including taking footprint impressions, but also included some of the most up-to-date technology available to law enforcement, including video surveillance from local stores and gas stations, facial recognition software and the use of vehicle tracking technology through a court- issued subpoena authorized by the Prosecutor’s Office.
“I want to commend the Michigan State Police for their steadfast efforts in identifying, apprehending and bringing this dangerous individual to justice,” said Prosecutor Leyton.
Sanders has three prior felony convictions for home invasion, car jacking and a weapons charge. As a habitual offender, Sanders faces penalties of up to life in prison if convicted on the most serious charges.
The next scheduled court date for the case is September 11 for a probable cause conference.
