Mott Community College (MCC) recently announced that its Board of Trustees officially approved its 2026/2027 Strategic Plan. This comprehensive roadmap will guide the institution’s growth and initiatives through December 2027, focusing on a vision that was built by the community, for the community.
The approved plan is the result of an extensive outreach effort. MCC collected insights and feedback from more than 1,250 individuals through a series of surveys and listening sessions.
“This strategic plan is a reflection of the voices and values of over 1,250 of our students, employees and community members who shared their ideas and vision with us,” said MCC President Shaunda Richardson-Snell.
She added: “We understand the weight of our role in Flint, Genesee County and beyond, and we take that responsibility seriously. We invite everyone to join us at the upcoming Community Rollout Sessions where we will share the final plan so all can see how their voices have translated into a comprehensive plan that will guide us as we build MCC’s future together.”
A Vision Built on Four Pillars
The 2026/2027 Strategic Plan prioritizes four key areas designed to ensure the college remains a leader in education and a catalyst for regional economic and jobs growth:
-
Priority I: Elevating Student Engagement and Experience – Enhancing the journey by creating Extraordinary Student Experiences for every learner from enrollment to graduation.
-
Priority II: Investing in Employee Engagement and Experience – Supporting the faculty and staff who make student success possible.
-
Priority III: Refining Operational Efficiencies, Processes and Services – Optimizing how the college functions to better serve all stakeholders.
-
Priority IV: Strengthening Community Engagement and Partnership Success – Deepening the bonds between the college, area employers and the community it calls home.
“This isn’t just a document meant to sit on a shelf; it is a living action plan,” said Mott Community College Chief of Staff Marcus Matthews. “We are thrilled by the feedback we received. It’s clear how much MCC means to this region, and we are excited to bring this vision to life over the next two years.”
