A new CDC study found that adults 65 years and older with diabetes mellitus (DM) had 1.5 to 2 times higher rates of severe flu-related complications compared with those without diabetes. Because they are at higher risk of flu complications, it’s especially important that people with diabetes get an annual flu vaccine as the best protection against flu and its potentially serious complications.
