Flint’s Ashley M. Burns selected for National Diversity Leadership Program

Flint, MI – The National Apartment Association (NAA) has selected Ashley M. Burns, director of property
management at Communities First, Inc. (CFI), for the organization’s prestigious Diversity Leadership Program (DLP) Class of 2026.

“I am honored to be selected for the National Apartment Association’s Diversity Leadership Program,” said Burns. “This opportunity allows me to grow as a leader while collaborating with peers across the country who are equally committed to advancing equity, inclusion and innovation in housing. I look forward to applying what I learn through this program to better serve our residents, strengthen our organization and contribute to a more inclusive rental housing industry.”

Founded in 2020, the Diversity Leadership Program annually selects up to 15 professionals from diverse backgrounds working in the rental housing industry.

Glenn Wilson, President and CEO of Communities First, Inc., praised Burns for this national recognition.

“Ashley’s selection for the National Apartment Association’s Diversity Leadership Program is a tremendous achievement and a reflection of her dedication, professionalism and leadership in property management,” Wilson said. “We are incredibly proud of her. This opportunity will not only support her continued
growth, but also strengthen Communities First Inc.’s ability to provide high-quality, equitable housing for the residents we serve.”

Designed for junior- to mid-level leaders, the yearlong program provides participants with mentorship, professional development training and collaborative learning opportunities focused on advancing diversity, equity and inclusion.

“The Diversity Leadership Program gives motivated young professionals an opportunity to excel in their careers by learning key leadership and career development skills,” said NAA President and CEO Bob Pinnegar.

He added: “I am excited to welcome the Diversity Leadership Program Class of 2026. Congratulations to all
participants on being selected for this wonderful opportunity.”

The DLP Class of 2026 will meet virtually from March through November. Participants will engage in educational sessions, reading discussions and mentor meetups throughout the year. The program will conclude with a virtual graduation and capstone project presentation, where small groups collaborate to develop actionable solutions for advancing diversity, equity and inclusion within the rental housing industry.
