City of Flint and Men’s Health 1st Launch “Built for Life” 12-Month Men’s Health Initiative

Kick-off event scheduled for Tuesday, February 24, 11 a.m.  – 12:30 p.m. at Mays Senior & Community Service Center

Flint, Michigan – In a bold step toward improving community health, Mayor Sheldon Neeley, along with Flint’s Office of Public Health, has partnered with Men’s Health 1st to launch a comprehensive 12-month Men’s Health Educational & Screening Program dedicated to advancing the physical, mental, and emotional well-being of men across Flint.

The “Built for Life” Men’s Health Initiative will officially kick off on Tuesday, February 24, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Mays Senior & Community Service Center, located at 1002 W. Home Avenue, Flint, MI 48505. Community members are being encouraged to attend, learn more about the program and connect with available health resources.

This transformative initiative will deliver monthly educational workshops, on-site health screenings and direct access to trusted healthcare providers and community resources. The program is designed to eliminate barriers to care, reduce health disparities and equip men with the knowledge and support needed to take control of their health.

Participants will receive education and support in key areas, including heart disease, prostate and other men’s cancers, mental health, diabetes, sleep disorders, nutrition and sexual health.

“This program is about action and access,” said Dwayne Parker, founder and Ppresident of Men’s Health 1st.

Parker added: “Too many men delay care or go without the information they need. By partnering with the City of Flint, we are creating real opportunities for men to become informed, proactive and empowered to lead healthier lives.”

“The Built for Life Men’s Health Initiative reflects a united effort among city leadership, healthcare professionals and community partners to strengthen families and improve quality of life throughout Flint,” said Shebra Ward, public health manager for the City of Flint.

Enrollment is now open. Residents, organizations and stakeholders are being encouraged to attend the kick-off event, enroll in the program and help spread the word about this important community effort.
