Free Saturday STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math) plus Literacy programs being offered for Prek-12 graders

FLINT–The Greater Flint Arts Council has received funding to support free, monthly, family-friendly programming in downtown Flint. The concentration of the program is on STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math) plus Literacy.

Working together with MSU Extension, the Greater Flint Arts Council is offering the STEAM +L hands-on activities, experiences for families based on children’s literature. The activities are suitable for students from Prek-12 grade.

Young adults are also able to learn a service learning certificate for participating

The following program themes are planned for upcoming sessions, which take place from 10 a.m.-12:30 p.m.

October 10: “The Yard Where My Spaceship Landed”

October 24: “Shapes of Things”

November 28: “Go, Dog. Go!”

December 12: “Bremen-Town Musicians”

December 26: @ Flint Children’s Museum

January 23: “Kites Fly High”

February 27: “If You Take A Mouse To School”

Most of the STEAM programs will be held in GFAC’s newly renovated space.

Although the programs are free, registration is required for the purpose of making sure supplies and accommodations are available for everyone. To register, email arouk65@msu.edu.
