A Flint Police officer was recovering from severe injuries on Wednesday, April 1, after sustaining multiple gunshot wounds after saving a woman whose ex-boyfriend was attacking her with gun.

Officer Michael Catlin confronted the 47-year-old suspect around 9:30 p.m. Tuesday night, in the 6600 block of Colonial Drive. The suspect then opened fire and hit Catlin with at least three bullets.

The suspect fled shortly after Catlin returned fire and was chased by  several agencies. Finally, he was captured near Saginaw Street and Pasadena Avenue.

Catlin was listed in critical condition originally, but was later said to be in stable condition following emergency hospitalization.

The suspect was also hospitalized after police allegedly ran him over with the patrol car.

A second suspect connected to the incident is yet to be found by police as Michigan State Police to investigate.
