FLINT — Genesee County Prosecutor David Leyton said a jury found a 42-year-old Mount Morris Township man guilty on all counts related to a methamphetamine case.
Christopher Dennis Gruno was found guilty of seven felonies including possession of methamphetamine, resisting and obstructing police and related firearm charges. Gruno was convicted as a habitual offender fourth offense and, as a result, faces a potential maximum penalty of life in prison at sentencing.
According to testimony at trial and evidence from the police investigation, on September 19, 2025, Gruno was observed by a Genesee County Sheriff’s deputy driving through the vacant and condemned Elms Mobile Home Park off Dort Highway in the city of Flint. The deputy initiated a traffic stop and when Gruno finally came to a stop, he exited his vehicle and was very agitated, refused lawful commands from the deputy and began to flee on foot. The deputy deployed his taser, bringing Gruno to the ground and he continued to resist until he was handcuffed.
A search of Gruno’s truck led to the discovery of a 9mm firearm, ammunition and a bag of methamphetamine.
“Meth poses a severe danger to our community that extends far beyond the individual user,” said Leyton.
He said it creates a ripple effect that impacts families, public health, safety for all citizens, and leads to increased criminal activity in our neighborhoods.
“I want to recognize the diligence of the Sheriff’s deputy who made this arrest and the work of Assistant Prosecutor Sam Fleet and the secretarial and paralegal support staff for bringing this
case to a successful resolution,” Leyton stated.
Gruno will be sentenced on March 2, 2026.
