Alleged child abuser to receive January 8 court hearing

A 26-year-old Flint woman was accused of abusing a 10-month old girl and was recently arraigned on six child abuse charges.

Alexis Harris had been asked to babysit at 2700 block of Dakota Avenue in Flint, where the alleged abuse took place between August and October of 2025.

When reviewing in-house camera footage, physical assault of the 10 month old child’s appeared to take place to the the child’s uncle. The uncle posted videos that captured the alleged abuse on social media, which Flint police said led to them even getting calls from people outside of the United States.

In December 2025, Harris was arrested. She was charged with first-degree child abuse, first-degree child abuse in the presence of another child, two counts of second-degree child abuse and two counts of second-degree child abuse in the presence of another child.

Harris was lodged in the Genesee County Jail with a $20,000 bond. Her next court hearing is January 8. If convicted of first degree child abuse, she could spend up to life in prison.
