  • Gear appropriate for whatever the weather decides
  • Water, snacks, lawn chairs, etc, for comfort
  • Non-perishable food and/or personal hygiene products to donate

Some tips for extra-appreciated donations: boxed cereal, paper products (toilet paper, paper towels), food packaged with flip-top lids (no need for can opener), shelf-stable boxed or powdered milk, beef stew/chili

  • It’s always good to have paper and a pencil or Sharpie
  • Friends! Family! Neighbors!

What should I leave at home?

  • Weapons, legal or otherwise
  • Your car, if you can carpool with others
  • Picnic blankets – better to be off the ground in a crowd
  • Contact lenses
  • An unprotected phone that turns on with your face or finger or isn’t in Airplane Mode.
  • Valuables and things you’d hate to lose.

What if I’ve volunteered and don’t know what to do?

  • Refer to the FAQ’s emailed to you
  • Go to the “Welcome” table
  • See the Volunteer and Set-up leads (they’ll have red or green stickers on their lanyards)
  • Review this: Know Your Rights and De-escalation Training

Why? The event organizers have stated the purposes of this event are:

  • To…show us what democracy looks like!
  • To say No Kings! No way! No dictators in the USA!
  • To resist in a big way, fun and peaceful, to demonstrate in numbers

Commitment to Nonviolent Action

A core principle behind all No Kings events is a commitment to nonviolent action and no civil disobedience. All participants are expected to seek to de-escalate for  any potential confrontation with those who disagree with their values, and to act lawfully at these events. Weapons of any kind, including those legally permitted, should not be brought to events. https://indivisi.org/safety

Indivisible Genesee, Livingston and Oakland Warriors (GLOW)  is a group of concerned citizens from the three-county region using the principles found in the Indivisible Guide to defend our Constitution and the Rule of Law, influence our elected representatives and others impacting public policy decisions, and to make sure that our country reflects a diverse, equitable and inclusive democracy. To that end, ‘We the People’ stand together demanding an end to authoritarian breakthrough and that we recommit to the more perfect union as was so powerfully expressed in the Preamble to our United States Constitution. A core principle of all Indivisible groups is a commitment to peaceful nonviolent action. GLOW is inviting all like-minded citizens to join this national movement in your community.

Indivisible is a national nonprofit organization that organically formed around the Indivisible Guide, a 2017 Google Doc guide to organizing locally to pressure elected officials to resist authoritarian creep. It caught fire as millions of people picked up the guide and its name – Indivisible – and organized their own local Indivisible groups to put the guide into action. These new Indivisible activists formed a nationwide movement of people taking matters into their own hands to build their own power through collective action. Indivisible is now a grassroots movement of thousands of local Indivisible groups with a mission to defend and rebuild democracy as they aim to defeat the authoritarian agenda. A core principle of all Indivisible groups is a commitment to nonviolent action.
