Flint mourns the death of community leader Richard Kraft (Dick Kraft)

Richard Kraft, former President of Flint Area Chamber of Commerce passed away Sept. 25 at age 91. Kraft worked with Charles Stewart Mott on many projects, including working on what is now the Flint Cultural Center.

Kraft was born in Ludington, moved to Muskegon and graduated in 1951 from Michigan State University College of Civil Engineering. He started his career working for the Michigan Department of Transportation. He continued his career soon after at West Engineering in Flint.

Kraft was active at Trinity United Methodist Church and the Flint Township Heights Terrace senior board.

Although Kraft sold his business in 2006 upon retirement, Kraft’s business; Kraft Engineering and Surveying, Inc., remains in operation.

Kraft was preceded in death by his son; David Edward Kraft. He is survived by his wife; Ann Ullrey Kraft, foster daughter; Frances Ann Nance, sister; Suzanne Mateer (Bruce), sister-in-law; Janyce Robson (Gerald), nephews, nieces and friends.
