Genesee Health System requests community input for mental health millage funds

Genesee County, Michigan – Genesee Health System (GHS) is holding open events for the community to provide input into how the recently passed mental health millage funding is focused.

The mental health millage, which passed in May of 2021, will provide funding for programming and outreach to the Genesee County community beginning in 2022.

“We know that Genesee County, along with many communities, is contending with a multitude of stressors,” said Danis Russell, CEO of GHS.

“Locally it includes the pandemic, aftereffects from the water crisis, violence and other concerns that have exposed our community to emotional trauma and stress,” Russell added. “We have the mental health expertise to help our community and want to ensure that we focus the new millage monies in the best way possible to meet the needs of individuals and families in our area. To best do so, we are asking the community for their input and insight.”
